Look, I won't bore you with the whole 'culinary journey' spiel. Been cooking for 20 years - started in my grandmother's kitchen in Montreal, worked my way through some fancy places in Toronto and Vancouver, picked up a few tricks along the way.
What really gets me going? The stuff that grows right here on the island. I mean, why ship things from halfway across the world when we've got farmers and fishers who bring us ingredients that were literally picked or caught this morning? That's the real deal.
At The Forge Table, we keep things straightforward. Fresh ingredients, techniques that actually make sense, and flavors that don't need a manual to understand. Sometimes a perfectly seared halibut with butter and herbs beats any fancy foam or gel you can dream up.

Smart casual works just fine. We're not gonna turn you away for wearing jeans, but maybe leave the flip-flops at home.
Got a special occasion? We can seat up to 40 folks for private dining. Give us a shout and we'll sort out the details.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies - just let us know when you book. We'll make it work.
The dining room's got character - original exposed brick from 1847, hand-forged iron fixtures that were actually made in the building's original forge, and these massive wooden beams overhead that've seen nearly two centuries of stories.
We've kept the bones of the place authentic but added what matters - comfortable seating, proper lighting (none of that 'you need a flashlight to read the menu' nonsense), and acoustics that let you actually hear your dinner companions.
There's about 65 seats total. Window tables overlook Heritage Boulevard and catch that golden hour light beautifully. The corner booths are perfect if you want a bit more privacy. And yeah, we've got a few tables near the open kitchen if you're into watching the action.
Pro tip: Request a window table when booking if you're coming for dinner around 6-7 PM. The sunset through those old wavy glass panes is something else.
Tables fill up pretty quick, especially on weekends. We take reservations up to 30 days out.
